A man was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries Wednesday after he was shot by Los Angeles Police Department officers in Venice, authorities said.

Officers responded to a disturbance call in an alley near Thorton Place and Pacific Avenue and made contact with the man, who police said was behaving aggressively and carrying a glass bottle and wooden sticks. Officers attempted to de-escalate the situation before opening fire around 5:30 p.m.

The man, who police said is in his 30s, was struck by gunfire and transported to a local hospital. No officers were injured in the incident.

An LAPD spokesperson said the department will not reveal more details about the incident until it releases a critical incident briefing in 45 days.
