In response to the article published on August 17, 2015 by Jeff Goodman, PS1 Pluralistic School has been misrepresented. Until now, it has been possible for a family entering kindergarten to fill out a personal exemption form regarding their child's immunization record merely out of convenience. There is no procedure in place to communicate the accurate records to the State once the school has followed up with each family. Actually, we can report that our school's Measles immunization rate is more than 90 percent.
We applaud the new law that will go into effect beginning with the next school year limiting the possibilities for inaccurate information so that a school's accurate records will be available to both schools and the larger community.
