# More mechanics needed

The Fleet Management Division is expected to ask the council to hire temporary mechanics to maintain vehicles as seven full-time and as-needed positions become filled in the next few weeks. The estimated $131,000 request will keep the division staffed with mechanics while the new employees are hired.

Five of the positions have already been filled and employees will be put to work in the next few weeks while the two as-needed mechanics will be hired in the next four weeks, according to the staff report.

The cost will be offset by savings from the vacant positions.
