DOWNTOWN — A Santa Monica police officer is in stable condition following a traffic collision on Broadway and Sixth Street on Thursday evening.
According to witnesses, the motorcycle officer was traveling westbound on Broadway when a black SUV attempted to make a left on to Sixth Street while heading eastbound. A police spokesman said that the accident occurred at approximately 7:20 p.m.
The officer was transported to a local hospital where he is said to be be in stable condition.
The identity of the driver was not released.
Both vehicles were towed away from the scene.
