MUSE Global School, an award-winning holistic education institution, has officially opened its new Santa Monica campus, expanding the internationally recognized school's reach to the Westside.
The school is operating from an interim location within The First Presbyterian Church while working toward establishing a permanent campus in the area. MUSE is now accepting enrollment for fall 2025, offering both in-person and virtual learning options.
Founded in 2006 by Suzy Amis Cameron and her sister Rebecca Amis, MUSE builds its educational approach on five core pillars: academics, self-efficacy, communication, sustainability and passion-based learning. The school has maintained 100% college acceptance rates and holds accreditation from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
"MUSE reflects my core mission: to empower the next generation of renaissance thinkers and leaders — young people equipped with knowledge, tools, values and imagination to lead a more connected and eco-conscious life," said Amis Cameron, who also founded Inside Out LLC, an environmental solutions company.
The Santa Monica location continues MUSE's commitment to small class sizes, with no more than 16 students per class to ensure personalized attention. The move positions the school to develop partnerships with local cultural institutions and expand environmental learning opportunities for students across the region.
Central to the new campus is the integration of MICA technology — Measurement, Instrumentation, Control and Analysis — developed by Dr. Ian Hunter at MIT. The system transforms how students engage with science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics education through hands-on experimentation and real-time data analysis.
Russell Mallen, an MIT graduate in electrical engineering and economics, leads the MICA program as head of MUSE's science and mathematics department. The technology allows students to explore subjects ranging from robotics to environmental science and biotechnology while developing practical skills for future careers.
"MICA helps students 'march across disciplines,' empowering them to approach tomorrow's challenges with innovative solutions," according to school materials referencing Hunter's advocacy for interdisciplinary learning.
The Santa Monica campus operates under a leadership team including Tressa Wyner, who became head of school in 2024 after more than 20 years in education. Wyner emphasizes communication-based teaching and global awareness in her approach.
Megan Grieco serves as director of K-12, overseeing diversity, equity, inclusion and justice integration along with literacy initiatives and passion-based academic design. Stephanie Cox manages global and virtual operations as well as admissions.
"Young people thrive in environments that challenge, inspire and nurture holistic growth," Wyner said. "Santa Monica's culture and beauty invite students to find joy in learning through their passions and nature. We're thrilled to build our community here."
The school has received recognition including HundrED's "MUSE Blueprint" innovation award for its educational model that combines traditional academics with real-world learning projects tailored to individual student interests.
MUSE plans to host an information event Aug. 6 for prospective families to explore the school's educational approach and meet the leadership team. The event will showcase how the school integrates MICA technology with its sustainability-focused curriculum and social-emotional development programs.
Amis Cameron, a former actor turned environmental advocate, has authored the best-selling book "The OMD Plan" and founded the OMD Movement promoting plant-based eating. She serves on the board of Food for Climate League and other organizations focused on regenerative agriculture and food justice.
The new Santa Monica campus is located at 1220 2nd Street. Families interested in enrollment or the Aug. 6 information session can contact Stephanie Cox at stephanie@museschools.com.
