PUBLIC SAFETY FACILITY No charges have been filed against a juvenile who was arrested last week in connection with a shooting in the 1900 block of 20th Street.

SMPD Lt. Alex Padilla said the juvenile was released because of a “reluctance of the victim and witnesses to cooperate.”

The shooting is still under investigation and detectives are encouraging anyone with information to come forward.

Police said the juvenile was found hiding beneath a bed in an apartment close to where the shooting took place.

The shooting occurred on June 14 at 5:35 p.m. Witnesses said at least four Hispanics walked up to a group of African-American males standing in front of an apartment complex and opened fire.

No gunshot victims were located at the scene and no weapon was recovered following the shooting, police said.
