PICO NEIGHBORHOOD — Police are looking for the person or persons who shot a Santa Monica teenager in the arm on Tuesday.

At 4:17 p.m., two Santa Monica Police officers assigned to the Pico Neighborhood detail were notified of shots fired in the area of 1800 block 16th Street. Officers immediately contained the area and a short time later, officers saw a dark vehicle leaving the alley. The vehicle was stopped in the 1200 block of Pico Boulevard and the occupants were detained. A field show-up was conducted and the witness identified one of the occupants in the vehicle as a person that was seen holding a gun in his hand, police said.

While officers were conducting the investigation, police dispatch was notified of a person who walked into a local hospital with a gunshot wound to the arm. The victim is an 18-year-old boy from Santa Monica. The investigation is ongoing and at presstime the suspect had not been booked.
