When the North of Montana Association (NOMA) was planning their first in-person meeting of the neighborhood group since COVID, they asked themselves, “Will anyone show up?” The answer was a resounding “YES” as over 200 people packed into (and outside of) the Franklin School auditorium to hear Acting Police Chief Darrick Jacob discuss crime and safety issues in Santa Monica, followed by a lively discussion with Mayor Lana Negrete and State Senator Ben Allen, all moderated by NOMA board chair Bruce Leddy.
A lively and well-attended info fair allowed residents to learn more about local resources and included PTAs from Franklin and Roosevelt elementary schools, the Santa Monica Education Foundation, Santa Monica police and fire departments, Montana Avenue Merchants Association, Santa Monica Protective Association, Great Park Coalition, a hugely informative Pamela Burton & Associates' Firewise planting guide and much more.
