SMPD Officers assigned to the Downtown Services Unit responded to a call about a possible theft in progress at REI on the 400 block of Santa Monica Blvd. Upon arrival, store employees pointed at an individual who had been seen concealing items in a backpack from the store and was refusing to leave. Officers made contact with the individual and asked if they could search him. The search revealed a replica firearm, an REI backpack, a checkbook and a credit card that did not belong to him. Alex William Hollander was arrested and later cited out for a 485 PC- Appropriation of Lost Property.
