October at the market

October at the market
Published:

October is all about pumpkins!  We are dedicating the entire month to them.  Worried about where to get the perfect pumpkin?  We have some thoughts and some super fun pumpkin themed events for you to choose from.  Starting with the Pico Farmers Market/Virginia Park Mini Fall Festival with free pumpkins for kids 12 and under on Saturday October 4th, 9am.  Followed by Kids Day and the Great Pumpkin Adoption thanks to Tutti Frutti Farms at the Main Street Farmers Market on Sunday October 12th, 9am for kids 12 and under.  And the All You Can Carry Pumpkin Patch event (no age limit; $10 entry) Downtown Wednesday October 15th, 8:30am.  All pumpkin activities end when all the pumpkins are gone. You won’t want to miss the opportunity to find the pumpkin of your dreams.

Not sure what to do with your pumpkin after Halloween?  What about pumpkin pancakes?  We have a super fun and delicious recipe for you from Fat Uncle Farms using their heritage grain flour and organic dry-farmed almonds plus other ingredients from farmer friends at the market!  They even have a new pancake mix for customers to try.

October is more than just pumpkins.  There is so much to get excited about.  Celebrate autumn fruits and vegetables like jujubes, pears, apples, grapes, pomegranates, persimmons, winter squashes and greens, potatoes, shallots, onions, almonds and heritage grains!  What’s not to love?
