One Sea Star, a Santa Monica nonprofit focused on animal welfare, environmental welfare and youth development, will hold its 3rd Annual 5K Walk Fundraiser on Sunday, Sept. 27, at Ocean Park in Santa Monica. Check-in opens at 9:30 a.m., and the walk begins at 10 a.m.

The walk is donation-based and open to the public. Participants can register at oneseastar.org. Snacks will be provided, and participants can win a $100 gift card and other prizes.

Proceeds support the organization's three programs: Compassion for Animals, which brings adoption education and shelter support to Los Angeles Animal Services centers; Neighborhood Beautification, which organizes neighborhood and beach cleanups; and Youth Development, which delivers character-building and leadership programming with local YMCA teen programs.

"Together, we can create a brighter, more compassionate world for all," said Erin Rogers, founder and executive director of One Sea Star.

The 5K Walk began in 2024 and aims to become the organization's largest annual fundraiser and community event. One Sea Star also partners with Laemmle Theatres, the Los Angeles arthouse cinema chain, on waste reduction, organics recycling and staff sustainability training across its locations.

One Sea Star is a Santa Monica-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to education, outreach and advocacy programs aimed at protecting the environment and promoting respect for all living things.

The event will be held at Ocean Park in Santa Monica. Registration is donation-based at oneseastar.org. More information is available at oneseastar.org, @one\_sea\_star on social media, or facebook.com/OneSeaStar.
