Pacific Park Opens New Haunted Funhouse Sept. 10

Pacific Park Opens New Haunted Funhouse Sept. 10
Published:

Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier will debut its new "Funhouse at Pacific Park" on Wednesday, Sept. 10, with a morning celebration led by Sprinkles the Clown beginning at 8 a.m.

The 2,800-square-foot haunted attraction honors Santa Monica's amusement history, inspired by the legendary "Toonerville Funhouse" that appeared at Ocean Park Pier in the 1920s and later at Pacific Ocean Park in 1958.

The grand opening will feature Sprinkles the Clown's ice cream truck parked near the funhouse entrance at 380 Santa Monica Pier. A colorful troupe of clowns will emerge from the truck with laughter and antics before Sprinkles meets the eerie Fortuneteller for the official opening at approximately 8:15 a.m.

The funhouse opens to the public at 11 a.m.

Visitors will wander through nine mysterious rooms designed to disorient, amuse and entertain with optical illusions, tricky layouts and unexpected surprises. The attraction features a coin-operated Fortuneteller who lures guests into a labyrinth of curiosities, where they may end up in Sprinkles the Clown's ice cream truck freezer.

The funhouse resurrects the spirit of the original attraction that thrilled and unnerved guests for decades before disappearing from Santa Monica's amusement landscape.

Media parking is available in the upper pier parking lot area from Ocean Avenue and Colorado Avenue.
