The City of Santa Monica’s contractor, AMPCO Inc., will begin mobilization activities to prepare for the demolition of Parking Structure 3 (1318-20 4th Street), which clears the way for future mixed-use affordable housing on City-owned property.

The contractor’s mobilization activities on March 9, 2022, include delivering equipment, isolating utilities, installing scaffolding, and preparing for the demolition which will start on Monday, March 14 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. The project’s demolition phase anticipates completion by Fall 2022.

During demolition, the sidewalk on 4th Street will remain open to pedestrians with an overhead cover and southbound traffic on 4th Street may be temporarily reduced to one lane.

Parking is available in other public parking structures throughout the downtown area. More information about this affordable housing project is available [online](https://santamonica.gov/topic-explainers/parking-structure-3-demolition?ref=smdp.com).
