The Photographic Arts Council Los Angeles will present "An Afternoon with Photographer Susan Meiselas" on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2025, at 2 p.m. at the American Cinematheque's Aero Theatre in Santa Monica.
The free event is part of PAC LA's ongoing "Year of the Woman" series, created with support from Eastman Museum Los Angeles and in partnership with American Cinematheque. Capacity is limited for the in-person presentation.
Meiselas is known for documenting human rights issues in Latin America. Her visit coincides with the 2025 rerelease of her acclaimed publication "Nicaragua" from Aperture. The book was first published by Pantheon in 1981.
The photographer's talk will focus on her Nicaragua work spanning multiple decades and the various forms it has taken as a book, exhibition and film. She will trace how her images have circulated and been repatriated, shifting their meaning over time.
A book signing will follow the presentation. The Aero Theatre is located at 1328 Montana Avenue in Santa Monica.
