Published:

On Feb. 17 at approximately 5 p.m., officers were driving on the 1200 block of Pico Boulevard when they observed a white male pushing a shopping cart.

Upon being detained for further investigation, the subject stated he did not have any type of identification in his possession, yet he went on to identify himself as James Otis Holden, 59, homeless.

The shopping cart in Holden's possession was labeled "Santa Monica Glatt Market" on the handle.

Due to not being able to verify Holden's identity, police arrested him for the appropriation of lost property.

The subject was transported to the Santa Monica Jail to be booked and positively identified via fingerprinting. No bail was issued.
