A police chase down Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) Sunday afternoon resulted in an arrest of a man suspected of breaking into multiple cars and pretending to be a parking attendant at a beach parking lot.

The Santa Monica Police Department received a call at about 5:20 p.m. that a man was looking into parked cars at Lot 5 North, a parking lot along PCH across from the California Incline. The man ran south when he saw the officers and then fled in a car with a woman. Officers pursued the car and caught it at Olympic Boulevard and Bundy Drive and took Kevin Lamont Holmes, 30, into custody.

Officers determined that Holmes had also been pretending to be a parking attendant and taking money from people driving into the lot. Several cars had been broken into, but SMPD is unsure if he is responsible yet, said Lt. Saul Rodriguez. Holmes also matches the description of a man connected to a residential burglary near the lot.
