Police investigating bank robbery

Two injured in weekend stabbing

MID-CITY — Santa Monica detectives are on the hunt for a homeless man they say robbed a bank this morning, getting away with an undisclosed amount of cash after threatening that he had a gun.

Police said the robbery at the US Bank located at 2221 Santa Monica Blvd. took place at 10:21 a.m.

The suspect is described as an African-American male, approximately 48 years old, with a gray beard, blue beanie and a blue long-sleeve shirt. He walked into the bank and told the teller that he had a gun, but no gun was seen by the teller or witnesses, police said.

After getting cash from the teller, the suspect ran out of the bank and out of sight.

No one was injured in the robbery.

Detectives are currently at the scene conducting a follow-up investigation.
