Police are looking for a man who attempted to pick up a young student while walking home from school on Wednesday.

At about 3:15 p.m., Santa Monica Police received information regarding a child annoying call in the 2400 block of 16th Street. A preliminary investigation has revealed that the student was walking from a local school when a vehicle approached and the driver attempted to offer the student a ride. The student refused and the suspect drove southbound on 16th Street and then westbound on Ocean Park Boulevard.

The suspect is described as a white or Hispanic, 28 to 32 years old, having black hair, brown eyes, clean-shaven and wearing a tan long sleeve shirt. The suspect’s vehicle is described as a small, black, older model, four-door.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the youth services division of the Santa Monica Police Department at (310) 458-8451 or the watch commander at (310) 458-8426.
