Police arrested a suspect Tuesday after a pursuit of a stolen white pickup truck through the West Side of Los Angeles County that ended with the driver confronting officers before being taken into custody.
The chase concluded just before noon when the suspect exited his vehicle and walked aggressively toward officers who had their guns drawn. The man returned to his truck and drove off, but stopped again shortly afterward and was subdued by officers.
Aerial view showed the vehicle in the Santa Monica area around 11:45 a.m., though it was unclear when and where the pursuit began.
During the chase, the driver briefly stopped and officers opened their doors, apparently expecting a surrender. Instead, the suspect drove off again.
The driver later pumped his fist at officers through his open window before police attempted a PIT maneuver that damaged the truck's rear end. The suspect continued fleeing despite the damage.
The truck made several right turns through Santa Monica streets, including Ocean Park Boulevard, Euclid Street and Lincoln Boulevard, headed toward Venice.
