PUBLIC SAFETY FACILITY — Santa Monica police are attempting to find the passenger in the Camaro that was involved in the Feb. 12 accident that killed a 23-year-old motorist.

Sgt. Jay Trisler said the driver of the Camaro told investigators that there was a male passenger in the car with him at the time of the accident.

“We are attempting to obtain information on that person and find him,” Trisler said.

The accident occurred at 3 a.m. last Saturday.

The driver of the Camaro and the driver of a 2004 Honda Accord were racing west down Wilshire Boulevard near 20th Street when the two cars sideswiped each other.

The Accord slammed through news racks and collided with a palm tree on the side of the road, killing the driver.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the racing or the crash to call  (310) 458-8495.
