Santa Monica police are asking for the public's help in identifying a suspect who assaulted an elderly security guard and stole his flashlight in late August.
The attack occurred at approximately 2:50 a.m. on August 30 in the 600 block of Wilshire Boulevard. Police said the suspect struck the victim with the victim's own flashlight, causing injury, before fleeing with the weapon.
The suspect is described as a Black male, 25 to 30 years old, standing 5 feet 5 inches to 5 feet 7 inches tall with a thin build and short curly hair. He was wearing a black shirt with a bear design on the back, black pants and red and black Nike shoes. Police said he was carrying a green backpack at the time of the incident.
