*By Bob Wolff Santa Monica*

It is sad to see your newspaper put such a negative headline on (the front page of the Aug. 15 paper,) “Future Leaders or future losers?”

No one in a democracy such as ours is a loser for running for office; they may not win the election, but none deserve the term “loser.”

All candidates give up time, energy, money to try and make Santa Monica a better city for its residents. All of them try to bring to the electorate their message, positive or negative. We should be thanking them for having such passion for their city and their fellow residents.

I feel the Santa Monica Daily Press owes all 25 \[candidates\] an apology; particularly those who showed up at the Treesavers forum ….

If you wish to slam people, how about the three incumbents, who did not bother to show, \[Richard\] Bloom, \[Herb\] Katz and \[Bobby\] Shriver.
