Those looking to tie the knot will have to pay a little more for a marriage license come February.

Dean Logan, the Los Angeles County clerk/registrar-recorder, announced this week that effective Feb. 1 the public marriage license fee will be $90, while the confidential license will cost $85.

The price hike was authorized on Dec. 22, 2009 by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors after a fee study revealed that current fees were below actual processing costs. The adjustment is the first since 2004 and reflects an increase of $20 for a public license and a $15 increase for a confidential marriage license. Prior costs were $70 each for both licenses.
