# Promenade concerts begin today By Daily Press staff

As of today, the Third Street Promenade will begin hosting a free summer concert series.

Officials at the Bayside District Corp., the non-profit that manages the Promenade in partnership with the city, will team-up with Los Angeles night club Spaceland to bring up-and-coming bands to Santa Monica.

The concert’s stage for the new series will be set up in the Promenade’s center court, which is the geographical center of the three-block outdoor shopping mall, between Arizona Avenue and Santa Boulevard.

Today’s band, ‘Irving,’ is scheduled to begin at noon and play until 4 p.m. The concert series will continue through the next month on alternating Fridays on Aug. 2, 16, and 30\. All concerts in the summer concert series are free. Parking is free for two hours in any public parking structures on Second and Fourth Streets.
