The demolition of PS3 became significantly more visible recently.
Work had previously focused on removing walls along the edges of the building with metal supports holding up the various floors. Additional and more noticeable demolition began this week.
Officials have said residents should expect lane closures on 4th Street while the demolition continues.
The structure, on 4th Street between Santa Monica Boulevard and Arizona Avenue, is being demolished to make way for a city-owned mixed-use residential / retail building with services for formerly homeless individuals, as well as affordable housing.
