The Santa Monica Fire Department is teaming up with the Autism and Law Enforcement Education Coalition to educate fire fighters on how to recognize a child with autism in an emergency situation.

Once the training is completed, the fire fighters will host a community day June 10 with the coalition and Holding Hands Inc., a clinic that serves  kids with developmental, neurological and biological diagnoses, to give families dealing with autism an opportunity to meet the fire fighters, tour the facilities and learn about emergency vehicles and equipment.

The open house is by invitation only.
