SM PIER — Thursday proved to be another hot one. Records were shattered in communities across Los Angeles County, including Santa Monica, where the temperature at the world-famous pier reached 96 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
The old record, set in 1976, was 88 degrees.
Don’t worry though. A cooling trend is expected this weekend with temperatures dropping into the 70s, with a 30 percent chance of rain on Saturday. A chance of rain remains in the forecast for Sunday, along with winds and even cooler temperatures.
