*A center-cut, no-fat review of what was said this past week by folks the world over and right at home*

*By Quotations captured and compiled with care by CYNTHIA VAZQUEZ.*

“They don’t want a dark chocolate sister laying around their swimming pool.” — Evia Moore, creator of an interracial marriage blog, on why black men prefer white women to black women “Families shouldn’t be worried about keeping the kids out of the water so they don’t get sick.” — David Beckman, a senior attorney with the NRDC and director of its California Coastal Water Quality Program, on L.A. County’s poor beach water ratings “I would sooner, in exactly what I’m wearing, walk on the surface of the moon.” — Charlie Sheen, when asked if he would comply with ex-wife Denise Richard’s rumored request to donate sperm so that she may have another child “I agree that the so-called moderates are not as consistent … it is eco-narcissism.” — Dr. Keith Lockitch, a resident fellow of the Ayn Rand Institute, on the sudden popularity of environmentalism as a look, rather than a way of life “And all you women out there who say love can change anything? You know what it can do? It can get you in a lot of trouble.” — Country singer Wynonna Judd on knowing about her ex-husband’s addiction problems, but still marrying him. Her ex was arrested in March for sexually assaulting a minor while in rehab “It seems wimpy, insipid, childish. I don’t want to be considered vapid and uninteresting.” — Michelle Heller, on why she doesn’t order a salad on first dates. A NY Times article reported that more women are ordering meat, rather than salads, on first dates, partially to avoid stereotypes. “There’s worst things that could go in there.” — Page Morris, owner of La Partie, a Montana Avenue retail store, on the opening of a Pinkberry store in an area where people pride themselves on the lack of chain stores “I was exposed to exactly the same things they were exposed to. So in that sense, I’m one of them.” — Rudy Guliani, presidential hopeful, backtracking after having made statements where he claimed to have been at ground zero the same amount of time, if not more, as the 9/11 cleanup workers “I never even think about it.” — Garrick Ebbins, a shopper at the Wednesday Farmers’ Market, on being disaffected by the latest farmers’ market crash where a 79-year-old man drove his mini-van through a street market in Fullerton — A Samohi sophomore on the ease of minors purchasing cigarettes in Santa Monica.
