SAMOHI — Santa Monica High School’s football team is partnering with organizers of the Pico Festival and Car Show for the second straight year to raise funds to benefit the team and injured player Cody Williams, who suffered a traumatic spinal injury last season.

The event, scheduled for Oct. 16, will include concessions, raffles and a silent auction. While the parents organizing the event have received items for the raffle and auction, they are actively pursuing more donations.

The funds raised at the car show will be distributed between the team and the Cody Williams Recovery Fund, which was set up shortly after his injury last season during the Leuzinger game. Although, Michele Prichard-Lane, the mother of Samohi player Taylor Lane, said that contributions can also be given specifically to each cause.

“Cody has been such an inspiration for us,” she said. “It’s great working with all the good Samohi moms and dads on this special event.”
