Santa is coming to town early this year and Santa Monica’s firefighters and police officers are leading the way.

Santa and his public safety helpers will be distributing good cheer and thousands of candy canes as part of the 13th annual “Candy Cane Drive."

Santa’s scheduled stops are as follows: Saturday, Dec. 3: 10:30 a.m. — Douglas Park on California Avenue and 25th Street. 11 a.m. — Christine Reed Park at California Avenue and Lincoln Boulevard. 11:30 a.m. — Third Street Promenade and Wilshire Boulevard. 1:30 p.m. — Virginia Park at 2101 Virginia Ave. in the Thelma Terry Building. 2 p.m. — Marine Park on Marine and 17th Street.

Want to learn how to perfect your voice-over technique? The Santa Monica College theatre arts department presents Emmy Award-winning actor Gregg Marx, who will present a master class called “The Art and Business of Voice-overs.”

The free master class, open to the public, will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8 in the Hangar Stage, located at SMC’s airport campus, 2800 Airport Ave. Seating is on a first-arrival basis.

Marx has done hundreds of radio and television commercials. He also has performed extensively at Los Angeles’ top cabaret venues, including his own critically acclaimed, “Wet Night... Dry Martini” and, “Love: Shakin’... Stirred... and on the Rocks.” Currently, he performs weekly at Maggiano’s Little Italy at The Grove in Los Angeles.

This is the third and final in SMC’s fall Theatre Arts Master Class series, which is co-sponsored by the SMC Associates, a private organization that funds speakers and special programs on campus.
