The Santa Monica College Theatre Arts Department will present "Hamletta & Twelfth Bro," a modern-dress double bill adapting two Shakespeare plays through distinct gender casting frameworks, April 10-26 at the Theatre Arts Studio Stage on the SMC Main Campus, 1900 Pico Blvd.

Adapted and directed by Dr. Adrianne Harrop, the production pairs two short plays. "Hamletta" stages "Hamlet" with a cast of performers who identify or present as women, while "Twelfth Bro" presents "Twelfth Night" with a cast of performers who identify or present as men. The productions invite audiences to consider how casting shapes character and storytelling in Shakespeare's work.

Performances are at 7:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays: April 10, 11, 24 and 25. Sunday matinees are at 2 p.m. on April 12 and April 26. All performances are subject to change or cancellation without notice.

Advance tickets range from $18 to $20, with a modest service fee, and are $15 for SMC students and staff. Tickets purchased at the box office on performance weekends are $3 higher. Tickets are available at smc.edu/tickets. Free parking is available on campus; transportation and directions can be found at smc.edu/transportation.
