The Santa Monica Conservancy will recognize an architecture firm, a coastal restoration effort and a volunteer at its 2026 Preservation Awards on Sunday, Nov. 8, at the Santa Monica Bay Women’s Club.

The event runs from 2 to 4:30 p.m. at 1210 Fourth St. It opens with the Taste of Santa Monica reception, featuring offerings from Bun & Mi, Lula’s, SURO, Vucacious Catering, Dolcenero and Divine Vintage. The awards program begins at 3 p.m.

The conservancy will present a Special Tribute Award to Fred Fisher & Partners, whose work over five decades includes Bergamot Station, the Annenberg Community Beach House and City Hall East. The conservancy credited the firm with transforming significant Santa Monica sites into spaces for public life while respecting their architectural and cultural histories.

Architecture and design commentator Frances Anderton will host the tribute and lead a conversation with architect Fred Fisher about his ideas, projects and impact. Anderton is the former host of KCRW’s “DnA: Design and Architecture” and author of “Common Ground: Multifamily Housing in Los Angeles.” She teaches at USC.

The Bay Foundation will be honored for restoring coastal dunes. The work helps revive native habitats and strengthen the ecological resilience of Santa Monica’s shoreline.

Hilda Weiss will receive a Volunteer Service Award for developing a California native plant garden tour at the conservancy’s historic Ocean Park headquarters.

The program will also include an advocacy update. The conservancy will invite the public to join local advocacy efforts ahead of the Dec. 14 hearing on the Penguin/Mel’s Diner.

Proceeds support the conservancy’s advocacy, education and community engagement work to protect significant places and share the city’s stories.

Tickets and information are available at www.smconservancy.org/2026preservationawards.
