The Santa Monica Pier Corporation will host its first-ever fundraising event Sept. 6 at the historic Merry Go-Round Building, marking a new tradition for the 116-year-old landmark.

"A PIERfect Benefit" will run from 3:30-7:30 p.m., featuring signature cocktails, curated appetizers, live entertainment and the presentation of the inaugural Santa Monica Pier Award to two individuals who have shown exceptional dedication to the pier.

The event coincides with the pier's 116th birthday on Sept. 9. Originally scheduled for March, organizers rescheduled following the Palisades fire and integrated a special giving component to support recovery efforts.

"This event kicks off a new tradition for one of the most iconic places in California," said Jim Harris, executive director and historian of the Santa Monica Pier Corporation. "We're not the City—we're a nonprofit with heart, and we rely on the generosity of the community to continue curating the Pier experience for locals, visitors, and admirers alike."

Despite popular misconception, the Santa Monica Pier Corporation operates as an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, not as a city department. Community support is essential to maintain the pier's programming and cultural legacy.

"SMPC is kicking down the door on the myth that we're City-run—we're here thanks to people who care," Harris said.

All proceeds will benefit the corporation's mission to keep the pier accessible for all visitors.

Individual tickets cost $175, with couple tickets priced at $300. Sponsorship opportunities range from $1,000 to $25,000 and offer exclusive perks including VIP access, on-site visibility and private tours with Harris.

The Santa Monica Pier Corporation is a nonprofit organization committed to preserving and enhancing the pier experience through year-round programming. The organization ensures the pier remains a vibrant, world-class destination accessible to all visitors.

Guests are encouraged to arrive via rideshare, Metro, bike or bus. The pier is located at 200 Santa Monica Pier, Suite A, Santa Monica, CA 90401.
