Santa Monica Playhouse Presents World Premiere of "The Game: Trapped, Stripped, Stereotyped"

Santa Monica Playhouse will present the world premiere of "The Game: Trapped, Stripped, Stereotyped" on June 9, 10 and 18 at 8 p.m.

The darkly humorous production follows four teams competing in a final round on an uncharted desert island. The show pays homage to popular television series including "Survivor," "Desperate Housewives," "CLUE," "The Love Boat" and "Love is Blind," with influences from "White Lotus."

Written by Evelyn Rudie and directed by Chris DeCarlo, the production features original music by Sergei Stern. The cast includes Celine Athan, Smita Bagla, Victoria Bemis, Diane Ciraulo, Marty Cohen, Christie Evans, Peter Gueracague, Bob Hucul, Parris Kaspszak, Linda Kohn, Madeleine Lemay, Deirdre O'Connor, Warren Sata, Sergei Stern, Theda Weston and Berkeley Sanjay, the playhouse's associate director of adult education.

The production is part of ShortBurst Theatre R.A.W., a program that brings together professional artists, new performers and community members to create relevant theater in a compressed timeframe. Over 36 years, ShortBurst Theatre has produced more than 50 collaborative productions locally, nationally and internationally with companies from 11 countries.

"The performances and collaborations are excellent and very educative. Their work is brilliant!" said Fusami Sugimine, director of Global Project, International Human Network in Japan.

Admission is $20 and includes a post-show wine and appetizer reception with the cast. The performances will take place at The Other Space, located at 1211 4th Street in Santa Monica.

Santa Monica Playhouse programs receive support from the We Are Santa Monica Fund, Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors through the Los Angeles County Department of Arts and Culture, the City of Santa Monica, the Santa Monica Arts Commission and Playhouse PALS.

The playhouse is celebrating 65 years of continuous theatrical and educational services to the community.
