Santa Monica Playhouse will present "Love and Liberation: Generations," a musical exploration of intergenerational relationships, for one night only on June 29.

The production, described as a "groundbreaking musical explosion of sight and sound," examines collective liberation through creative storytelling. Berkeley Sanjay, the playhouse's associate director of adult education, is producing the show.

The cast features 11 performers including Lena Winner, an actress who incorporates her mental health background into healing art; Adya Mohanty, an actor and writer focused on community building through "radical love and liberation"; and Bennett Rine, a poet who uses language to challenge dominant narratives.

Other performers include Jayla, a California artist; Alexis Milan Turner, an actress, singer and dancer; Simha, a recording artist blending soul, jazz and Indian classical music; Amy Amatya, a Los Angeles musician and writer; Nora Kenza, a singer-songwriter and advocate; Nanki Chugh, a violinist and educator; Rubani Chugh, a recent UCLA music graduate applying to medical school; and LJ, who will contribute musical elements.

The performance begins at 7 p.m. Sunday, June 29. Tickets cost $25 and include a post-show reception with wine and sweets where audience members can meet the cast.

Reservations are required and can be made by calling the Playhouse Box Office at 310-394-9779 ext. 2 or online at SantaMonicaPlayhouse.com/Love-and-Liberation.html.

The production is supported by grants from the We Are Santa Monica Fund, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors through the Los Angeles County Department of Arts and Culture, the City of Santa Monica, the Santa Monica Arts Commission and Playhouse PALS.
