The Santa Monica Sharks captured victories in two consecutive swim meets last week, demonstrating strong teamwork and rising talent across multiple events.
The aquatics team first secured a win at the BASE qualifying meet at Hemingway Aquatics Center in Carson on Sunday, Aug. 3. The Sharks followed with another impressive victory at the Southern California Municipal Aquatics Federation championship meet in San Clarita on Saturday, Aug. 9.
The SCMAF championship featured more than 400 swimmers from 15 teams representing areas from Kern County to San Diego County. The Sharks brought 70 swimmers to the competition and proved to be the strongest team in the federation.
"This team is something special," said Ken, the Sharks' head coach for 20 years. "They've worked hard all season, and it's showing in the pool. Winning two meets in one week says a lot about their dedication and drive."
The team delivered standout performances across all events during both meets, showcasing personal bests and consistent excellence in competition.
The back-to-back victories highlight the program's development under the guidance of coaches Ken and Will, who have built a competitive team that excels at the regional level.
The Sharks' success at these high-level competitions positions them well for future meets and demonstrates the strength of the Santa Monica aquatics program.
