The Santa Monica Symphony, a 67-year-old musical orchestra dedicated to providing residents with free concerts year-round, has appointed Tom O’Conner as its first full-time executive director.
O’Conner’s experience and vision made him a perfect fit for the position, said Carl Selkin, president of the Santa Monica Symphony Association, in a statement released on Wednesday.
O’Conner has served as director of administrative services at the New York Philharmonic and associate director of marketing for the Los Angeles Philharmonic. He has also served as executive director of the Pasadena Symphony and the California Philharmonic.
“The idea of building audiences for the music I love through free concerts attracted me to this position,” said O’Connor in the statement.
