Encouraging active, better living for older adults and their caregivers is the goal of the “Westside Health and Wellness Conference 2006,” set for Saturday, May 20, from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the First United Methodist Church, 1008 11th St.

Organized by the Older Adult Task Force, along with sponsors UCLA Healthcare, the Los Angeles County Area Agency on Aging and Santa Monica Commission for the Senior Community, the free conference will feature seminars, health screenings, consultations with geriatric care managers, exhibits and a resource fair.

More than 35 organizations will have exhibits with information about their products, programs or services for older adults and caregivers. The seminars will address topics such as caring for caregivers, housing and transportation options, fall prevention, stress management and spirituality.

The Older Adult Task Force consists of 20 Westside community organizations, including the Alzheimer’s Association, Center for Healthy Aging, Center for the Partially Sighted, Emeritus College, WISE Senior Services, UCLA Healthcare and the City of Santa Monica’s Senior Services. All 20 organizations will participate in the conference.
