A pedestrian was fatally struck by a Metro train Tuesday in the Crenshaw area, prompting a temporary halt to train service on part of the Metro E Line.

The collision occurred about 4:50 a.m. at Exposition Boulevard and Seventh Avenue near the Crenshaw neighborhood, said Metro spokesman Jose Ubaldo.

The name fatally injured pedestrian was not immediately available.

Metro implemented a bus shuttle service for rail passengers to use in the area, which was closed while an investigation was conducted. Rail service in the area was restored shortly after 10 a.m. The E Line was formerly known as the Expo Line.
