PUBLIC SAFETY FACILITY — A convicted sex offender who sometimes dresses in a Spider-man costume and poses for photographs with children has been recently seen walking along the Third Street Promenade and the Santa Monica Pier, police said.
Roger Montgomery, 51, a transient, is described as a male white, 6 feet, 2 inches with red hair and hazel eyes. Police said Montgomery was convicted of sodomy and committing lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14.
Santa Monica police issued a public information bulletin on Montgomery to “allow members of the public to protect themselves and their children from sex offenders.”
Montgomery is not wanted at this time.
Police said there is at least one other person in Santa Monica who dresses in a Spider-man costume who should not be confused with Montgomery.
Bottom line: be leary of superheroes who wear masks.
