SHINE Presents Annual “The Power of Music” Show
Published:

SHINE Storytelling is tuning up for its popular annual “The Power of Music” show Thursday, August 16 at 7 p.m. at the Santa Monica Playhouse. Storytellers and musical artists will share inspiring true tales about how music changed their lives. This special edition of SHINE includes live musical performances.

Among the stories, you’ll hear about a magical moment that brought people from different continents together, a once-in-a-lifetime musical performance, how an autistic girl found her voice in song, and how one musical duo’s bond carried them through all life’s milestones – and even beyond death.

The evening’s performers are: Jake Cassman, Rich Johnson, Molly Meng, Ksusha Miretski (aka HibiscusChild), Misty Rosas, Richard Rossner and Terrie Silverman.

SHINE “The Power of Music” will be hosted by the charming Kirsten Wasson. Since arriving in Los Angeles from New York, Kristen has presented stories at many venues including Tales by The Sea, P.E.Z., I Love A Good Story, Tell It! and SHINE, as well as reading stories on KCRW’s UNfictional. She is a counselor at a private secondary school, has published a book of poetry, and her memoir, Unaccompanied Minor: Growing Up in Flight, is forthcoming.

Performers for SHINE are chosen from some of the nation’s top award-winning storytellers, writers, performers, and musicians. New storytellers from many backgrounds also take the stage.

A popular and long-running Westside show, SHINE is held at the Santa Monica Playhouse, 1211 4th Street, Santa Monica 90401. Convenient parking is located directly across the street, in City Parking Structure #1.

Tickets are $12, with student/senior discount also available. Tickets may be purchased in advance at www.StoreyProductions.com. Cash and checks only at the door.
