LOS ANGELES — Los Angeles County prosecutors say the so-called "Silverware Bandit" has been sentenced to 210 years to life in state prison for a string of break-ins at homes in west L.A. and Santa Monica.
Deputy District Attorney Belle Chen says Jeffery Langford was called the "Silverware Bandit" because he targeted seven elderly women who lived alone and demanded their money, jewelry or silver.
Langford was sentenced Friday.
The 56-year-old was convicted last year of eight counts of first-degree burglary, six counts of first-degree residential robbery and other charges.
In one instance, Langford disabled a victim's medical monitor so she wouldn't be able to call for help.
The crimes took place between June and August 2008.
