# SMC Applied Music Showcase set for Oct. 30

Students in Santa Monica College’s Applied Music Program will perform at the SMC Applied Music Showcase at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 30\. The program will include songs, instrumental solos, ensemble works and original compositions in a range of styles.

The Applied Music Program is part of SMC’s effort to combine arts education with high-quality public performances. James Smith founded the program in 2001\. It is now directed by Jimmy Cheesman, David Arbury and Janelle DeStefano. The program trains instrumentalists, vocalists and composers and prepares students to transfer as music majors to four-year universities or conservatories.

General admission tickets are $10, plus a service charge. Tickets are free for students with any student ID. Advance tickets are available at[ ](http://www.smc.edu/tickets?ref=smdp.com)[smc.edu/tickets](http://www.smc.edu/tickets?ref=smdp.com) or by calling 310-434-3005 Monday through Friday during limited hours. Tickets also will be sold at The Broad Stage box office beginning 45 minutes before the performance.

Parking is free on site. Seating is first-come, first-served.
