The Santa Monica College Emeritus Art Gallery will open its 2026 Annual Student Photography Exhibition on March 5, with an opening reception from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the gallery, located on the first floor of the SMC Emeritus Campus at 1227 Second St. in downtown Santa Monica.

The free exhibition runs through April 24. Gallery hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Parking is available in Santa Monica Public Parking Structure No. 2, adjacent to the gallery.

The show features photographic works by 32 students and will be hosted by Emeritus Art Gallery Curator Jesse Benson.

"This is the first on-campus Emeritus Student Photography Exhibition in six years," Benson said, noting that the 2020 exhibition closed prematurely due to the pandemic, prompting the program to shift to an online format. "Moving forward, the beloved annual photography event will rotate yearly between in-gallery and online-only presentation."

Participating students are Dian Andrews, Kathleen Battersby, Terry Brown, Dorli Burge, Angela Castellano, Caroline Gerstley, Jim Gerstley, Trude Haas, Kathleen Higgins, Jude, Marilyn Kabakov, Josephine La Rosa, Jebbie Lavoie, Carey Lundin, Fran Lyness, Nol Martín-tungpalan, Cindy Sanchez Mattson, Elaine Maxwell, Howard Meibach, Wendy Miller, Regina Pally, Allan Popelka, Doris Power, Linda Rosman, Karen Sandler, Ganna Shneydina, Nancy Rae Stone, Sandra Strength, Michael Telerant, James Wang, Shifra Wylder and Yvonne Yao.

Founded by Santa Monica College in 1975, the Emeritus program is a noncredit adult education program serving more than 3,000 students per year with more than 120 classes and special programs for older adults.
