“Ozone & Greenhouse & El Niño, Oh My!” That’s the title of a feature show at Santa Monica College throughout March that looks at the popular misperceptions about atmospheric phenomena. The lecture will occur March 3, 10, 17 and 24 as part of SMC’s Friday night astronomy series.

The guest lecture will be “QuickSCAT: The Little Spacecraft that Could.” Kelly Perry, engineer at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Lab, will talk about what QuickSCAT is discovering about Earth’s atmosphere and oceans. The guest lecture will be March 31\. The feature show and guest lecture are at 8 p.m. Each is preceded by “The Night Sky Show” — which re-creates the night sky and provides the latest information on space exploration — at 7 p.m.

The astronomy shows are held in the John Drescher Planetarium, which features the state-of-the-art Digistar projection system. It is located on the second floor of Drescher Hall, 1900 Pico Blvd. The guest lecture is in science lecture hall 140.

Tickets are $5 each or $9 for the “double bill,” with discounts for children and senior citizens. For information, call (310) 434-3000.
