SMC to Celebrate Earth Week 2026 with Free Events

Santa Monica College campus event showcasing Earth Week celebrations and environmental activities
Santa Monica College celebrates Earth Week with a variety of free activities and events April 9 and April 20-23.

Santa Monica College will mark Earth Week 2026 with a series of free events on its main campus at 1900 Pico Blvd., including a documentary screening, gardening workshop and sustainability fair.

The college, considered one of California's greenest campuses, has scheduled three events:

On April 9, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. in Stromberg Hall, director Angelina Lee will screen her documentary "Making a Mini-Forest," which explores how urban communities use native plants to increase biodiversity and climate resilience. Pizza will be served beforehand at SMC's own mini-forest. A Q&A with Lee and an ecologist will follow the screening.

On April 22, from 11:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. near the Organic Learning Garden, the "Garden & Grow" workshop will offer hands-on instruction in seed-ball making and starting a garden.

On April 23, from 11:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. in the SMC Quad, "Sustainability Fest" will feature local clubs and community organizations focused on environmental protection. Food will be provided.

Events are subject to change or cancellation without notice, and additional events may be added. Sponsors include SMC Eco Action Club, Club Grow, Basic Needs, Bodega, Rising, SMC Sustainability Center and Associated Students of Santa Monica College.
