At about 7:55 a.m. SMPD Officers responded to the 1905 Pico The Manor.  According to the Reporting Person, a former resident of the Manor went into the building and began arguing with a current resident.

At one point the subject pulled out a small pocket knife and brandished it at the resident. Police were called and the suspect immediately fled. Officers made contact with him on the street however he was uncooperative.   Department of Mental Health (DMH) and Crisis Negotiation Team Representatives were on scene, and made several attempts to make the suspect comply. The street was shut down for the safety of the suspect and public. He was then taken into custody without further incident.

The Manor is an Adult Residential Facility, licensed by the State of California, which provides room, board, care and supervision since the 1960’s for persons with mental illness, and for those with developmental disabilities.
