SAMOHI — Santa Monica High School’s boys’ volleyball team has retained its No. 1 ranking in the latest CIF-Southern Section Division 4 poll released on Monday.
The Vikings are currently on spring break and won’t return to action until April 26 on the road against Beverly Hills.

St. Monica’s boys’ volleyball team remains No. 9 in the most recent CIF-SS Division 5 poll.
The Mariners are 7-5-2 this season and an impressive 4-0 in Camino Real League play. Next for St. Monica is a home league game against Mary Star of the Sea, today at 6 p.m.
Samohi baseball opens league
Samohi’s baseball team opens Ocean League play today with a road tilt with Hawthorne. The game begins at 3:15 p.m.
The Vikings have struggled to a 3-13 record this season with coaches hoping that things pick up during league play. Samohi shared the league title last season with rival Culver City.
St. Monica hosts b-ball fundraiser
St. Monica’s boys’ basketball coach Khi-Min Jung is hosting a hoops clinic this Sunday with all proceeds going to the relief effort in Japan.
The clinic will teach kids 5 and up the finer points of basketball and costs $20 a person. It will be held on the St. Monica campus and begins Sunday at 4 p.m.
