A more than 60-year-old trailer park on Stewart Street could receive more than $5 million worth of attention from City Hall.

The council will be asked to award a contract to the Griffith Company to perform a series of infrastructure improvements at the Mountain View Mobilehome Park at 1930 Stewart St., including the installation of new natural gas, water and sewer lines, as well as street lights. The project also includes the construction of new curbs, gutters and improvements to electrical, telephone and cable TV lines.

City Hall has owned the five-acre property and 36 mobile homes since 2000 and has since made a number of changes to the park, including creating an emergency access road and parking spaces. The infrastructure of the park has been touched minimally since it was built in the late 1940s. The majority of the park’s residents still rely on propane tanks for cooking and heating, according to city staff.
