Bruce Lurie Gallery will present "Carpe Every Single Diem," a collaborative exhibition by Los Angeles street artists Ruben Rojas and WRDSMTH, opening Saturday with a reception from 6 to 8 p.m.
The exhibition marks one of the first major shows since the gallery reopened after losing everything in the Palisades fire. A fellow Palisades resident offered the gallery its new Santa Monica space, enabling the reopening with community support.
"I've always loved street art, and what sets both WRDSMTH and Ruben Rojas apart is the positivity and thoughtfulness in their work," said Bruce Lurie, gallery owner. "When WRDSMTH told me he and Ruben had always wanted to collaborate, it felt meant to be."
The exhibition combines Rojas' "Love" imagery and vivid colors with WRDSMTH's typewritten wisdom, creating what the artists describe as an immersive body of work promoting connection and conversation.
"This show is about merging hearts and words," Rojas said. "It's a reminder that love isn't passive—it's something we choose, say and show."
WRDSMTH, known for his typewriter stencil and motivational phrases painted worldwide, said their collaboration extends beyond the gallery walls.
"Working with Ruben through the years on collaborations in the streets of LA and London has always proved to be a fulfilling partnership," WRDSMTH said. "Our styles and messages intersect well, delivering positivity and hope."
Rojas left corporate work in 2013 to focus on art centered on love, transforming blank walls into uplifting murals. WRDSMTH aims to inspire passersby with daily motivation through his street art.
This marks the first time the two artists have exhibited together in a gallery setting. The show will feature limited-edition prints, immersive installations, collaborative works and individual pieces by each artist.
The exhibition runs Aug. 9 through Sept. 2 at Bruce Lurie Gallery, 608 Santa Monica Blvd. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday, noon to 6 p.m.
